OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE:
The Objective is to provide Professional education and develop the skills of the female students in Maharashtra particularly, the students coming from rural areas. Professional education is imparted in the field of Fashion Designing.
The main objectives of the course are:

To impart the education and knowledge related to Dress Making and Fashion Designing right from the source of inspiration to final finished product.
- To enable the students to work as.“ the freelance designers ”
- To enable the students to seek employment in ready made garment-manufacturing units.

To help the students start their own business, export boutiques or to work as Coordinators in all Dress Designing related firms.

To equip the students with basic knowledge of market dynamics, for developing and designing the fashion garments keeping in mind the various technical requirements and limitations and
Keeping the above points in mind the syllabus has been formulated to give the students thorough knowledge in various aspects such as Garment Designing, Garment Making, Fashion Merchandising, Computer Aided Designing, Management and Entrepreneurship, etc.

Bachelor In Dress Making And Fashion Co ordination [BDFC]
Being affiliated to Shivaji University, the curricular aspects are followed according to University norms.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:-
Eligibility for the admission to the first year degree in BDFC is the candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) of Maharashtra State Board or Any Examination of a statutory university with Science, Arts, Commerce or Vocational Streams.

Aptitude Test :
1) The Vocational Aptitude will be adjudged by an aptitude test conducted by the college. 50% weight age will be given to the Aptitude Test Marks. Minimum standard for passing the Aptitude Test is 50%. Normally the Aptitude Test will be conducted on the 15th day after the declaration of (10+2) Examination results.
The dates, details and result (Merit List) of the Aptitude Test will be displayed on the notice board of the college only.
2) Preference will be given to the candidates who have passed the Intermediate Drawing Grade Examination as follows. Weight age of 2% for Grade A; 1.5 percentages for Grade B; 1 % for Grade C.
3) Medium of instruction for all four courses is ENGLISH
BDFC IInd Year
Students with 10+3 year Diploma in Textile Technology, Diploma in Fashion Designing, Diploma in Handloom Technology ,Diploma in Garment Designing, Diploma in Textile Designing, from a Technical Education Board Or any other Government authority of any state can take direct admission to second year BDFC course.
Total strength including all the three years for each course is 180 students i.e. 60 students for each class. Total numbers of papers the students have to take up are 27 papers for BDFC.

With these papers the 2nd year degree students have a compulsory subject ‘Environmental Studies ‘according to the UGC. The exam is conducted by the university and the result is declared in form of grades.
INTERNSHIP/ PROJECT :
Students are expected to undergo a minimum of 30 days industrial in-plant training in an Export House, Garment Manufacturing Unit, Boutique, or any Functional areas related to Fashion. The internship should be completed during the summer vacations after the completion of BDFC second year.
